Future Plans
We’re working to produce and tour two plays by Anna Reynolds: in the Autumn of 2026 a short tour of her new play The Matilda Effect and in Spring 2027 a retour of the hugely successful production of Nothing on Earth.

PBAB – in brief
Pursued by a Bear is an award winning theatre and digital film producer. We are Company in Residence at Trestle Arts Base in St Albans.
We produce new writing by some of the UK’s most distinctive voices. Much of our work is global in setting and scope (our last four productions were set variously in India, Russia, Africa and between the UK and the USA).
Founded in 1998, we have commissioned and produced over 17 new pieces for UK tour as well as a feature length film in 2012 and numerous short films made in educational / participatory settings. We have run script writing workshops and offered bespoke dramaturgical support to professional playwrights as well as emerging talent.
We work with award winning designers, choreographers and film makers to create a striking and unforgettable theatre experience. Our work is atmospheric, thought provoking and passionate.
In 2017 our American co-producers – Tiny Dynamite – led the US transfer of The Lamellar Project by Grant Watson. The show was re-conceived for a Philadelphia audience and re-named Perfect Blue.
In Autumn 2017 Rosamunde Hutt became the company’s fourth Artistic Director.
We are delighted to have produced Anna Reynolds’ breath-taking play Nothing on Earth in March 2023. Thanks to Arts Council England for the essential funding enabling this long-held ambition to happen. You can fly into the world of Nothing on Earth through our short films from the lockdown era.
In December 20023 we presented the publication by Aurora Metro Press of Anna Reynolds’ Nothing on Earth. Copies available from Aurora Metro directly or from Pursued by a Bear upon enquiry.

DIRECTING IN ORDINARY & EXTRAORDINARY TIMES
During the 2020-2021 lockdown period we remained busy, producing Nothing on Earth: Shorts accompanied with a blog and a new ebook ‘Directing in Ordinary & Extraordinary Times’ by our Artistic Director, Rosamunde Hutt.
